Pearl Abyss crimson desert patch notes added seven new mounts, a dog-attack feature, and a recovery system for upgraded items. Players now have more ways to move, fight, and reclaim upgrade materials without starting from zero on every gear change.

The seven new mounts are Mountain Goats, Kuku Birds, Iguanas, Raptors, Camels, Lions, and Tigers, and ferocious animals must be subdued and fed before they can be tamed and registered. Special saddles now exist for all mount types, which gives the update a practical edge for players who care about how each creature handles rather than just how many were added.
At the Smithy, the new recovery system lets players take materials back out of upgraded items. Common materials return at 70% of the amount, while Abyss Artifacts and Aeserion’s scale come back in full for each rank through the same system.
Smithy Recovery System
That matters because it gives players a way to unwind an upgrade decision without losing everything they invested. The patch says it costs six Abyss Artifacts to upgrade a single piece of gear, so the return path is not cosmetic; it changes how players can reallocate scarce materials.
The update also adds new unarmed combat skills for Oonkga, and Kliff can now wear some of Oongka’s outfits. Players can hide weapon sheaths as well as weapons, which trims visible clutter for anyone who wants a cleaner screen or a more restrained look.
Sigil of Valor
The Sigil of Valor now causes a dog to attack enemies, turning a companion into an active combat tool instead of a passive one. The Laughing Marionette also adds decorative items, special headgear, Abyss Artifacts, and Abyss Gears, while a display setting can soften overall colors and make darker shaded areas appear slightly brighter.
The friction point is familiar for a game that has been updating often: the patch adds flexibility, but some of the most useful changes sit behind systems players have to build into first, including tamed mounts, upgraded gear, and specific items like the Sigil of Valor. For players deciding where to spend materials next, the new Smithy recovery path is the part that changes the risk equation most.
