Bayern Munich have opened talks with Newcastle over a potential summer move for Anthony Gordon, and newcastle score today is that the 25-year-old is now firmly in the market. Newcastle will listen to offers for their top scorer, who has 18 goals this season, while expecting him to want to explore his options.

Gordon and Bayern Munich

Official contact has been made, after Bayern had been watching Gordon since the turn of the year. He joined Newcastle for £45 million in January 2023 and still has four years left on his contract, which gives Newcastle a strong negotiating position even as the summer window starts to gather pace.

Gordon’s value to Newcastle is plain from the numbers. He leads the scoring chart on 18 goals this season, so any move would reach beyond a single transfer fee and into how the club replaces that output if he leaves.

Howe on Newcastle plans

Eddie Howe said he was not involved in the conversation about Gordon’s future. Asked ahead of facing Nottingham Forest, he said: “No, none. That is not something I'm involved in.”

Howe added: “It is difficult for me to comment on individual players and timescales. It is not my forte.” He also said: “All I am looking to do is try to finish this season with this squad in a strong way. There is no point looking too far into the future.”

Barcelona, Arsenal and Liverpool

The wider market around Gordon is already active. Liverpool tried to sign him in 2024 but the move did not happen, Arsenal are admirers, and his agents have been pictured in Barcelona in recent days, though there has been no direct contact with Barcelona as yet.

Howe also framed Newcastle’s immediate focus with one warning for the squad: “The summer transfer window is difficult to predict on any level. We have three big games to play.” He has said he only wants players who are 100 per cent committed to the club, and he repeated that stance when discussing Gordon and the rest of the group.
