Dan Burn said Newcastle United will go into their final three Premier League games with one target: a push for Europe. The 33-year-old spoke after Saturday's 3-1 win over Brighton, with Newcastle still six points off seventh place.

Burn after Brighton

Burn's message was direct. "There are three games left now and we know anything can happen," he said. "We know we are well outside of the European places, but we are going to give it a good push."

That leaves Newcastle with Nottingham Forest, West Ham and Fulham still to play. Seventh place would guarantee Conference League football, so the margin between qualifying and missing out is now down to a short finish line rather than a long chase.

Newcastle's tight margin

The result over Brighton gave Newcastle a breathing space, but not much more. Six points separate them from seventh, and the remaining schedule gives them no room to drift. A single slip would cut into a run that Burn says has to be handled one match at a time.

Burn also pointed to the workload behind the late-season push. "We have found this season tough mentally," he said. "The amount of games you have to play means you don't get much time to train, and I've always said we are a team that likes to be out on the training pitch."

Forest, West Ham, Fulham

Those three fixtures now carry the weight of Newcastle's European hopes. Forest, West Ham and Fulham are the only routes left for Burn's side to turn a sixth-place deficit into qualification, and the Brighton win at least kept that path open.

For Newcastle, the choice is simple: keep the pressure on and take whatever the table gives them, or let a season Burn described as mentally tough end outside the European places.
