Paul Gervase had a locker at Dodger Stadium before the Dodgers faced the Atlanta Braves, a strong sign he could join the roster soon. The 6-foot-10 right-hander has spent most of his work in the minors, but the Dodgers appear to be keeping him close because the bullpen and rotation are both in motion.
Dodger Stadium locker signals move
Gervase is the tallest pitcher in Dodgers history, and his locker on site before the game pointed to a possible short-term move rather than a long-term promotion. He has been in Triple-A because the Dodgers have had enough depth to keep him there, but the organization believes he has a role and fits into its plans.
That possibility became more practical because Tyler Glasnow left his last outing after the first inning with a back issue. Dave Roberts said the team will likely not put Glasnow on the injured list, yet the injury still leaves the club balancing available arms while Blake Snell joins the rotation on Saturday.
Gervase 2026 relief numbers
Gervase has given the Dodgers a useful sample in 2026. Over nine relief appearances, he posted a 3.65 ERA in 12.1 innings, allowing six hits, five runs and nine walks while striking out 17 batters.
Those numbers help explain why he is in the conversation even if the stay is brief. The Dodgers could use him as a one-day stopgap while they sort out Glasnow’s status and Snell’s arrival, and unless there is another injury, Gervase would likely head back to Oklahoma City after a day or two.
Dodgers bullpen decisions
The harder call is not Gervase himself but where the Dodgers would create room. There is no clear candidate to be demoted from the bullpen, although Kyle Hurt has been shining in his role and could be moved down to limit his workload and keep him healthy.
For now, the locker at Dodger Stadium is the clearest clue. If the Dodgers make the move, Gervase would go from Triple-A depth to a brief piece of the active mix while the club manages a back issue and a rotation change at the same time.
