Lexington police began a multijurisdictional search for elena moore near Lakeside Middle School on Wednesday, focusing on the area around 455 Old Cherokee Road after new camera footage and earlier searches tied her movements to that corridor. The search came after police had already looked behind Lowe’s Home Improvement and found no trace of her.

Moore is 39 and from Lexington, South Carolina. Investigators said she signed in at Planet Fitness at 560 Whiteford Way at 6:40 p.m. on June 11, then camera footage showed her walking through the Publix parking lot at 100 Old Cherokee Road and heading toward Old Cherokee Road at 9:17 p.m. that night.

Old Cherokee Road closure

By 3:40 p.m. on Wednesday, Old Cherokee Road was closed between North Lake Drive and Berkshire Drive, and police said no traffic would be allowed through the closure. The road restriction sat directly inside the search area near Lakeside Middle School, turning the investigation into a live traffic issue for drivers who normally use that stretch.

Police said Moore was last seen on June 11 wearing an olive green zip-up hoodie with black athletic pants. She is described as 5′7″, 120 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. Lexington police also released a photo that appeared to show her at Planet Fitness.

Missy Silcox on the search

LPD Investigator Missy Silcox said Moore’s husband reported her missing on June 12. Police have followed the case through camera footage, the reported phone that was not pinging on Monday, and searches in more than one place linked to her last known movements.

Silcox said Monday evening that police did not yet suspect foul play and did not believe Moore was in imminent danger. The department also said the search behind Lowe’s Home Improvement was “not a recovery operation, but rather a precise effort to rule out one less place Ms. Moore could be.”

Lexington Police Department contact

Police said Moore reportedly frequents the Planet Fitness at 560 Whiteford Way. Anyone with information about her was asked to call the Lexington Police Department at 803-358-7271.
