Leicestershire Police are investigating a download ferris wheel video from Saturday night after a couple were seen acting inappropriately above thousands of shocked festival-goers at Download Festival in Leicestershire. The footage surfaced while revellers were waiting for Guns 'n' Roses to take to the stage, putting a private moment in the middle of the night’s busiest stretch.

Officers said they were aware of a video on social media concerning two people on a Ferris wheel at Download this weekend. The force said the incident is currently being investigated, and police are working to identify the people involved.

The witness account gives the scene its sharpest detail. “Originally for the first rotation of the wheel people thought he was just standing behind her with his arms around her, looking at the view.”

As the cabin came lower, the reaction changed. “But, as it got lower, somebody shouted ‘I can see her pants pulled aside!”

“They were literally in a glass pod above everyone’s heads at the busiest point of the night, just before Guns ‘n Roses were due on.” That timing pushed the clip into the festival’s main moment, when crowds were already focused on the stage and anything unusual could spread fast.

“It sort of brought everyone together in a weird way, before they were spotted the atmosphere was nervous apprehension because they’re always late on. As soon as the cameras came out and word started getting around about what happened the atmosphere completely changed – they made the night.” The witness also said, “All I can think is they thought the glass was tinted, but it wasn’t at all, it was actually spotless, you could see everything.”

“I just hope they cleaned the cabin after they got out of it.” For police, the practical issue is sharper than the gossip: the video is public, the people are not yet identified, and officers are already in contact with the festival organisers while enquiries continue.
