Brooks Koepka withdrawal news hit late Sunday night when he pulled out of this week’s Charles Schwab Challenge after tying for 14th at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson. The move leaves Colonial Country Club without a five-time major champion and cuts the field to 132 players.

Koepka Leaves Colonial Field

The PGA Tour said Koepka stepped away from the event at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, after his latest run of four rounds left him at 18-under par in Dallas. He opened with 63, then added 69, 66 and 68 to finish tied for 14th at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson.

That result continued a productive stretch. Koepka moved up six spots to 63rd in the season-long FedEx Cup standings and remained just outside the top 100 in the Official World Golf Rankings. He had also recorded six top-20 finishes in 11 starts since returning to the PGA Tour earlier this year through a Returning Membership program after a four-year spell on LIV Golf.

Byron Nelson Form, Colonial Exit

His withdrawal came after three consecutive weeks on the road, a schedule that had already asked plenty before the Charles Schwab Challenge began. No official reason was given for the exit, but the timing matters because it removes a recent top-20 finisher from a field that had already lost Denny McCarthy and David Ford, with Jimmy Stanger and Brice Garnett stepping in as replacements.

The event at Colonial carries a total purse of $9.9 million, with the winner taking home $1.78 million and 500 FedExCup points. Scottie Scheffler and Jordan Spieth were not entered, while Wyndham Clark arrived as the reigning CJ Cup Byron Nelson winner after shooting 60 on Sunday.

Koepka’s Next Start

Koepka is scheduled to return at the RBC Canadian Open at TPC Toronto from 11–14 June. He is not eligible for next week’s Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village, which leaves the Canadian Open as the next listed stop after a withdrawal that reshaped Colonial before the first shot was hit.
