Nate Jacobs death lands in Season 3 Episode 7 of Euphoria, and by the end of “Rain or Shine” he is dead after a rattlesnake bite in a shallow grave. Cassie is left weeping over his necrotizing body, which turns the episode into a hard reset for the marriage at the center of the story.
Rain or Shine
The episode’s mechanics are blunt: loan sharks were holding Nate over a $1 million debt, buried him in a shallow grave with a small vent to the outside world, and gave Cassie three days to raise the money for his freedom. That setup puts the show’s stakes in business terms as much as personal ones, with debt, leverage, and deadline driving the action rather than melodrama.
By the end of Season 3 Episode 7, the vent becomes the fatal flaw. A rattlesnake comes through it and bites Nate before Cassie reunites with him, leaving the character dead and the episode’s rescue plan useless.
Cassie, Maddy, Alamo
Cassie asked Maddy for help, Maddy turned to Alamo, and Alamo showed up at the drop site and shot one of the loan sharks dead. Cassie had already been kidnapped in the episode, and the chain of help only gets her as far as the site where Nate is being held, not to a clean rescue.
Cassie’s position is even harsher because she had quit OnlyFans to pursue a legitimate acting career, then got fired from “L.A. Nights” after the production decided it did not want the hassle of explaining her past work. She also created an Instagram post from Dylan Reed’s account while he was in the kitchen, a small act that fits the episode’s pattern of people making bad choices under pressure.
Nate’s Fall
Nate had already changed from the figure who generated much of the show’s early intrigue through rage and menace. In Season 3, his failures in business and debt to loan sharks left him weakened and sorrowful, and that shift made the death less like a twist than a collapse.
The sharper consequence is Cassie’s. She becomes a widow within the first months of her marriage, and the series spends the episode turning that status into the emotional cost of Nate’s downfall. The finale now has to work with a marriage that has already ended in blood and debt.
