Paul Joyce says Tottenham have a verbal agreement for Andy Robertson if they avoid relegation, and the club did exactly that with a 1-0 final-day win over Everton. Joao Palhinha’s first-half strike lifted Spurs to 41 points from 38 matches and away from the drop zone.
Robertson After Liverpool Farewell
Robertson said farewell to Liverpool after Sunday’s 1-1 draw against Brentford and is expected to leave when his contract ends in June. The Scotland left-back has spent nine years at Liverpool, made more than 350 appearances and won the Premier League twice and the Champions League there.
That move had been tied to Tottenham’s league status. The agreement Romano reported only came into play if Spurs stayed up, and they were 17th before the final game, two points above 18th-place West Ham.
Senesi Joins The Same Picture
Marcos Senesi was in advanced talks with Tottenham on the same condition, with Premier League safety unlocking the transfer path. The 29-year-old Bournemouth centre-back becomes a free agent this summer when his contract ends.
Senesi has been at Bournemouth since 2022 and has made more than 100 appearances for the club. Bournemouth finished sixth and secured Europa League football this season, so his exit would remove a defender with a long run of Premier League experience from a side heading into Europe.
For Tottenham, the final-day result changed the transfer market immediately. Survival keeps the club in position to add a left-back with elite trophy experience and a centre-back who has already logged more than 100 Bournemouth games, with both moves now linked to free-agent departures in June and this summer.
