Roger Tuivasa-sheck lasted only 11 minutes before limping from the field in the Warriors' 30-12 win over the St George Illawarra Dragons at Jubilee Stadium. The centre is set to undergo scans today after the Warriors feared he may have ruptured his ACL.
Jubilee Stadium Blow
Tuivasa-Sheck went down after tackling Hayden Buchanan, then left the match after just 11 minutes. Andrew Webster was cautious after the victory, saying, "He can walk, he’s walking around," before adding, "Until we get a scan, we’ll just wait and see."
The Warriors do not need a long review of what that kind of injury can mean for their back line. If the scans show an ACL rupture, Tuivasa-Sheck would almost certainly be finishing his Warriors and NRL career, with Wakefield Trinity already signed for next season.
Warriors Centre Options
The timing adds another layer of concern because this would be the Warriors' second ACL injury in as many weeks. Tanah Boyd went down in the opening minutes of the Magic Round victory over the Brisbane Broncos, and later scans showed his season was over and surgery was needed.
Rocco Berry has yet to take the field this season, which narrows the options if Tuivasa-Sheck is ruled out. Adam Pompey is the likely replacement at centre, and the Warriors are scheduled to play the Penrith Panthers in Sydney on Sunday.
Tuivasa-Sheck's Next Scan
The scan today is the next decisive step for a player who left the field after one tackle sequence and never returned. If the results match the Warriors' fears, the injury would land hard on a side that has already lost one centre option and is trying to cover another before Sunday.
