Alexandra Diaz said at the Bal de la Jonquille that she will leave next week for Chile to see her family. The television host, who announced in October that she had blood cancer, said she has a good morale and is waiting for results any day now.

Diaz attended the Montreal charity evening with her spouse, Clarens, and said the event matters to her because cancer has affected her family. She said her father had prostate cancer and her mother died of esophageal cancer, and she added that she takes part in many Canadian Cancer Society activities because “Le mot « cancer », on l’a déjà trop entendu, et je crois profondément en la recherche.”

The Bal de la Jonquille raises funds for the Société canadienne du cancer, and Diaz used the evening to thank the audience and the artists who come on her show to promote their projects. She also said she is finishing her second season hosting Salut Bonjour and feels at home there this year.

Chile and what comes after

Diaz said the trip to Chile is a long-held dream because she has not seen her family there for a long time. The visit comes while she is awaiting test results and carrying on with plans that include a television project and a book.

For Diaz, the immediate step is simple: travel next week, see her family in Chile, and keep moving through treatment and work at the same time.
