Beth Mead will leave Arsenal when her contract expires at the end of the season. The 31-year-old forward ends a nine-season spell in north London after 265 appearances and 86 goals.
Beth Mead Ends Nine Years
Mead joined Arsenal from Sunderland in 2017 and became one of the club’s most productive attacking players. She said, "Leaving this club isn't easy," and added, "I don't think any words will truly be enough for what this club means to me."
She also said, "It breaks my heart in ways I didn't expect, but I leave it with so much love, pride and so much gratitude." Mead added: "Arsenal will always be a part of me, always."
Arsenal's Trophy Run
Her record at Arsenal includes the Women's Super League title, three League Cups, the Champions League and a Champions Cup. One of her defining moments came in last year's Champions League final, when she supplied the assist for Stina Blackstenius' winner.
Clare Wheatley said Mead has made "a huge contribution to our football club over nine years, and will go down in history as one of our best forwards and a legend of the club." Wheatley added, "Beth is such a special person and will always be welcome at Arsenal."
England Form And Farewell
Mead's Arsenal exit comes after she made her England debut during her time at the club, then played a key role in the Euros win in 2022, when she was named player of the tournament. She was also part of the England squad that defended their Euros title in 2025.
Arsenal have also said Laia Codina and Victoria Pelova will leave when their contracts expire at the end of the season. Mead's departure closes a run that began in 2017 and leaves her with a place in a squad that has not won the Women's Super League title since 2018/19.
