Chelsea tickets for Anfield now come with a sharply reduced attack. Chelsea head into Saturday's match against Liverpool without five wingers and without Robert Sanchez, forcing Calum McFarlane toward a back three with wing-backs.

McFarlane's Anfield setup

McFarlane is likely to use three central defenders, with Malo Gusto and Marc Cucurella pushed into wing-back roles. That shape fits the players still available after the winger shortage narrowed Chelsea's options for a match they need to win to keep their slim Champions League hopes alive and end a run of six consecutive defeats.

Jesse Derry is out after suffering a concussion in his full debut against Nottingham Forest last weekend, and Sanchez is absent after a head injury in the same match. Filip Jorgensen is deputising in goal, leaving Chelsea to adjust behind a stripped-down attacking group before they face the league leaders at Anfield.

Chelsea's missing wide players

Alejandro Garnacho, Estevao Willian, Pedro Neto and Jamie Gittens are also unavailable, which leaves Chelsea without five different wingers for the trip. That list takes the pressure off none of the available forwards and puts the wing-back roles at the center of the plan.

Liverpool's own absences

Liverpool also arrive short-handed. Florian Wirtz is out through illness, Mohamed Salah remains sidelined with a hamstring injury, Giorgi Marmadashvilli is back in goal in place of Freddie Woodman, and Alexander Isak starts on the bench.

Saturday's match carries a direct consequence for both sides. Liverpool can guarantee Champions League football next season with a win at Anfield, while Chelsea need a result to stop the slide and keep the season's European race from slipping further away.
