Terrace RCMP issued an amber alert terrace for Raina and Mathias Wood, three-and-a-half-year-old twins reported missing Monday night from the area of 2501 Kalum St. in Terrace. Police say the alert now covers all of British Columbia.
Investigators believe the children may be with their mother, Tova Josephine Wood, and may be travelling in a red 2015 Dodge Caravan with B.C. licence plate ME538F. Police are asking anyone who sees the vehicle, Wood or the children not to approach and to call 9-1-1 immediately.
Tova Josephine Wood
Police suspect Tova Josephine Wood is responsible for the abduction. Terrace RCMP describe her as five feet six inches tall, 141 pounds, with light brown hair past her shoulders.
Raina and Mathias both have blonde hair and blue eyes. Raina was last seen wearing pink pants, and Mathias was last seen wearing beige pants.
British Columbia alert area
The alert spans all of British Columbia, widening the search beyond Terrace and putting the vehicle description at the center of the response. The plate number, ME538F, gives the public a specific detail to watch for as police continue looking for the twins.
For anyone in the province, the immediate step is simple: if the Caravan, Wood or the children are seen, call 9-1-1 at once and do not try to intervene. The alert leaves the search in the hands of police and the public’s eyes on roads, parking lots and other places where the vehicle could appear.
