aurélien tchouaméni travelled with Real Madrid to the Camp Nou on Sunday, but Kylian Mbappé will not play in the Clásico after leaving Saturday’s training session before the end. Madrid head into a match that can hand Barcelona the Liga title with its top scorer, a player on 41 goals, left out.

Mbappé leaves Saturday training

Real Madrid said Mbappé did not feel in perfect condition at the end of the final session before the match. He had completed Friday’s training with the rest of the squad, then withdrew before finishing Saturday’s work and will miss the club’s eleventh full commitment of 2026.

The forward’s absence comes two weeks after he left the match against Betis with a left semitendinosus muscle injury. Madrid had made the Clásico the target for his return, but the final training check pushed him out of the squad on the eve of one of the season’s biggest fixtures.

Real Madrid’s missing seven

Mbappé is one of seven players out for the trip to the Camp Nou because of injury. Carvajal, Militão, Mendy, Ceballos, Valverde, Güler and Rodrygo are also unavailable, while Ceballos has been left out of the squad for a third consecutive match for technical reasons.

Valverde’s absence follows the serious fight with Tchouaméni that led to fines of 500,000 euros and a cranioencephalic trauma, plus stitches in his forehead. Valverde is set to be out for about 10 more days, while Tchouaméni still travelled and Courtois also made the trip after recovering from injury.

Barcelona can win Liga

Barcelona can win the Liga title at the Camp Nou if Madrid do not beat them on Sunday night. That leaves the visitors to manage without their leading scorer and to lean on the players who did travel, with Thursday’s home match against Oviedo waiting next in the schedule.
