Arthur Mourgue has been named in Hull KR’s 21-man squad for Sunday’s Challenge Cup semi-final against warrington wolves. The full-back is back in contention after almost three months out, giving Hull KR a second option at the back for a match with Wembley at stake.

Hull KR at Eco-Power Stadium

Hull KR meet Warrington at Doncaster’s Eco-Power Stadium on Sunday, and the winner will face either St Helens or Wigan Warriors at Wembley later this month. Mourgue’s inclusion is the sharpest change to Willie Peters’ squad after the Frenchman spent nearly three months on the sidelines with a pectoral injury.

He suffered that injury in Hull KR’s World Club Challenge win over Brisbane Broncos and later had surgery. Mourgue trained with his teammates on Thursday, a sign that the club had kept the door open for a return before Peters made the call.

Jack Broadbent Holds the Line

Jack Broadbent has covered the full-back role during Mourgue’s absence, so Hull KR do not have to force the issue if they decide the returning player needs a slower re-entry. Bill Leyland is also back in the ranks after featuring for St Helens last week, while Sauaso Sue and Dean Hadley have both been named after managing small issues recently.

The squad selection gives Hull KR a clearer picture of their options for a repeat of last year’s final, with the same opponent now standing between them and another Wembley trip. That leaves Sunday as a direct test of whether Mourgue’s recovery has moved far enough to matter in the biggest game of the run-in.

Warrington Wolves Bring Luke Yates

Sam Burgess has named Luke Yates and Josh Thewlis in Warrington’s 21-man squad, with Jake Thewlis the only man to drop out. Warrington will wear primrose and blue on Sunday, and the two clubs are meeting again after last year’s final.

For Hull KR, Mourgue’s return is the most important selection call in the build-up. For Warrington, the task is to handle a side that has regained one of its main attacking pieces just in time for a semi-final that sends one team to Wembley and sends the other home.
