Huracán beat Boca 3-2 in boca vs huracán at La Bombonera, ending Boca’s round-of-16 run after extra time. Colo Gil opened the scoring after a Boca buildup error, and Huracán survived a late equalizer before Óscar Romero decided it from the spot. The result sent Huracán through after a game that swung back and forth for 120 minutes.

La Bombonera Changes Hands

Boca had enough chances to change the script before halftime, but Hernán Galíndez kept Huracán alive with several saves in the first 45 minutes. That gave Huracán a chance to stay in the match after taking the early lead, and it mattered once Boca finally found a way back.

Claudio Úbeda tried to adjust at the start of the second half by replacing Marcelo Weigandt with Malcom Braida. Boca still needed a break to level, and it came with fewer than five minutes left when the ball hit Milton Giménez off a cross and went in by accident for 1-1.

Óscar Romero Turns Extra Time

Extra time changed the match immediately. Lautaro Di Lollo conceded two penalties in the first extra-time period, and Óscar Romero converted both against Leandro Brey to push Huracán into a 3-1 lead.

The match then turned even messier for Huracán when Ramírez and Pereyra were sent off, but Boca could not fully take advantage until very late. With five minutes left, Ángel Romero cut the deficit to 3-2, leaving the final moments tight but not enough to rescue Boca.

Huracán’s Knockout Breakthrough

This was the first knockout meeting between Boca and Huracán in 12 years, and Huracán handled the pressure after reaching the round of 16 in 7th place with 22 points. Diego Martínez’s side had gone into the game without wins in its recent matches and after a 0-0 draw with Racing, so the result at La Bombonera was a sharp turn from that run.

Boca’s exit came after a match they twice dragged back toward level terms, only to lose control again in extra time. Huracán leave La Bombonera with the cleaner result and the stronger knockout claim: 3-2, away from home, and into the next round.
