Nelly Korda fiance Casey Gunderson became part of the conversation at the U.S. Women’s Open, where the 27-year-old shared new details about their wedding plans while playing at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California. Korda entered the 81st annual U.S. Women’s Open as the favorite, then backed that up with a 2-over 73 on Day 1, a reminder that she is juggling major-championship pressure with life away from the course.
Korda’s Wedding Plans
Korda said both weddings in the family will take place in 2027, with Sebastian Korda and Ivana Nedved getting married in Europe and her own ceremony staying in the U.S. She said the wedding will be on the water and described it as “just going to be really, really pretty,” adding that she plans to work with “the actual elements of the site we’re getting married.”
The bride-to-be has already marked the engagement publicly. She announced it in November and posted photos of the couple holding a newspaper that read, “We’re Getting Married!” Korda and Gunderson first met in high school at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, then reconnected in 2024 before starting to date.
Gunderson And The Ring
Gunderson works at an engineering firm, and Korda said he included both of their birthstones in the band of the engagement ring. She also said she does not wear the ring while competing, keeping the focus on the tournament even as the wedding countdown moves forward.
Her comments add a personal layer to a week that already carried high stakes on the course. Korda entered the event seeking her first career U.S. Open title and fourth major championship, and she said after the opening round, “It wasn’t a great day. I hit it really good Monday through Wednesday, so I have honestly no idea where this came from,” before adding, “So I’m going to go to the range.”
Riviera Pressure
Saturday looked different. Korda shot a 4-under 67 on Day 3 and reached the final round tied atop the leaderboard with Sei Young Kim, then said, “It’s always amazing to be in this position,” and, “That’s what we work so hard for, to be in this spot. So whatever happens tomorrow happens, but I’m going to give it my all and see what the outcome is.”
That sequence leaves her balancing a major title chase with wedding plans that are now public in detail: a U.S. ceremony, a waterfront setting, and a 2027 target shared with family already planning a separate wedding in Europe. Jessica Korda has not been asked to serve as maid of honor yet, though Nelly Korda said, “I was her maid of honor. And hopefully, she’s not listening, but she’ll definitely be mine.”
