Jason Ronald unveiled xbox series x25, a translucent green Xbox Series X special edition built for the console’s 25th anniversary. Microsoft paired it with a matching controller and set both for November availability.
The new model carries 1 TB of storage and takes its cues from the original Xbox. Ronald said, “For the first time, we’re bringing a translucent design to Xbox Series X, drawing inspiration from the original Xbox and OG Green so many players remember,” and added that the limited edition “respects our history, with the power and performance of the Xbox Series X, including 1 TB of storage, and a design that reflects where we’ve been and the community that’s been with us along the way.”

The console’s front X lights up green when powered on, and a 25th anniversary logo sits on the front panel. Microsoft also kept the anniversary theme moving through the controller, which uses the original ABXY colors and bumpers that honor the original black and white buttons from the Duke controller.
Ronald said, “The back case and battery door are fully transparent, revealing the classic XBOX logo,” a detail that puts the branding into the hardware instead of treating it like a printed badge. The company is leaning on nostalgia, but it is doing it with current hardware specs rather than a stripped-down collector’s piece.
November for Xbox collectors
Both the console and controller land in November, giving buyers a limited window to plan around the anniversary release. Microsoft has not announced an exact release date or pricing, so the only firm buying target is the month itself.
That leaves the Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition as a straightforward collector play: limited, branded, and tied to a 25-year milestone. If Microsoft is trying to turn heritage into a sales event, November is the month to watch.
