Mondo Duplantis says he rarely trains the jump anymore, yet he arrives at stockholm diamond league 2026 chasing his 16th world record in Stockholm on Sunday. The main Bauhausgalan program starts at 16.00 at Stockholm Stadium, and the pole vault follows about 15 minutes later.

Duplantis said he usually practices the jump about once every four weeks and does not need much more than that to stay at the top. He has competed four times in 2026, a workload that fits the approach he says has kept him sharp without heavy technical repetition.

Nu hoppar jag väldigt, väldigt sällan,” Duplantis said ahead of the meet on Saturday, June 6, 2026. He added that physical training has become more useful to him than extra technical sessions, and said sprint work, gym exercises, plyometrics and hurdle drills make up more of his routine.

Stockholm world record chase

The target in Stockholm is clear: the 16th world record. Duplantis said breaking the record there last year was one of the most special moments of his life, and that memory is driving him back to the same runway with another chance in front of a crowd he knows well.

He also said the meet will carry a personal edge because friends will be in the stands, including a friend from Louisiana who has not seen him jump since he was a teenager.

Bauhausgalan crowd in Stockholm

The Sunday schedule leaves little gap before the pole vault begins, which puts Duplantis back in front of the crowd almost immediately after the main program opens. For fans at Stockholm Stadium, the event centers on one question: whether he turns that low-volume training pattern into another record on a track where he already made history.
