Plex added 15 new live TV channels at the start of June, and cord cutters news now points to a bigger free lineup inside the app. The update expands a service that started with free movies and TV shows in 2019 and now includes more than 600 FAST channels.

Plex Live TV inside the app

Users can reach the free live channels through the Live TV section of the Plex app, and they do not need a Plex account to watch the free content. That keeps the path to viewing simple on Roku, Google TV devices, Amazon Fire TV, Samsung TVs, LG TVs, Xbox, PlayStation, Android, and iOS.

Murdoch Mysteries and other additions

The new additions include Murdoch Mysteries, The Great British Baking Channel, and Documentary Plus. Those names show that Plex is not just adding volume; it is filling out specific niches that viewers can browse without paying for an extra subscription.

Plex and The Roku Channel

Plex now rivals The Roku Channel in size, which puts it in a stronger position inside the free ad-supported TV market. The practical catch is that the lineup keeps growing while the app remains split between its original media-server roots and its newer free streaming catalog.

The open question is whether Plex will keep adding channels at the same pace or slow down after passing more than 600 FAST channels.
