Dean Harrison became the harrison 2026 senior tt winner on Saturday after the abandoned Senior Isle of Man TT was decided from first-lap positions. The rescheduled four-lap race was stopped on the second lap after Erno Kostamo crashed at 11th Milestone, and heavy rain then ended the event.
Harrison Takes Senior TT
Harrison was declared the winner ahead of Peter Hickman and Josh Brookes. The result came from the positions at the end of the first lap after organisers could not safely complete the race.
The Senior had already been moved from Friday before the weather forced another delay. When the race finally started on Saturday, the crash on the second lap ended any chance of finishing the full distance.
Rain Hits The Mountain Course
The disruption ran through the meeting from the opening day. Racing on 30 May was postponed, several other planned sessions were called off or shortened, and the second Sportbike race was also cancelled on Saturday.
Gary Thompson said: "This has undoubtedly been one of the most challenging TTs in recent years from a weather perspective". He added: "Over the course of the event, we set out with nine days on which racing could potentially have taken place, and rain will have affected seven of them. That is an exceptional set of circumstances and it has had a major impact on what we have been able to deliver."
Kostamo And Other Riders
Kostamo was reported as conscious, stable and talking after the crash, and he was receiving treatment for leg and hip injuries. Michael Evans was also conscious and stable with no serious injuries after coming off his bike at Braddan Oak during the Sportbike race.
Jamie Cringle was treated for leg, chest and back injuries after a crash in Friday's Supersport race. The event again showed how quickly the TT schedule can be reshaped on 37.73 miles of public roads, where low cloud, rain, standing water and changing conditions cut into the available windows.
Thompson thanked competitors, teams, marshals, volunteers, officials, medical teams, residents, partners and fans for their patience and support through what he called a difficult week. For Harrison, the finish line arrived without a full race, but with the Senior result still going into his record.
