sincere love island returned Tuesday night with 10 singles heading into the Fiji villa for Season 8, and two bombshells entered with them. Ariana Madix is back for her third season hosting the series, while the cast mix now includes a police officer, a Paralympic medalist and the daughter of a former NBA player.
Fiji villa opens with 10 singles
The season airs at 9 p.m. ET each night on Peacock, giving the show a nightly slot instead of a weekly one. That schedule keeps the cast in front of viewers every evening, which matters in a format built around rapid turnover, shifting pairings and short attention spans.
Season 8 also arrived with a pre-premiere change: Vasana Montgomery was removed from the cast days before the first episode after resurfaced social media videos allegedly showed her using a racial slur. That left the opening roster down a name before the villa doors even opened, a complication that already shaped the season’s first impression.
Ariana Madix returns
Madix is hosting Love Island USA for her third season, giving the show a familiar on-screen guide as the new cast settles in. Ciara Miller and Tefi Pessoa have taken over the companion show Love Island USA Aftersun, keeping the franchise’s after-show setup in place as the main series resets.
Harvey said she wants to be “courted” and warned, “No one wants a guy that's nonchalant, not giving you the time of day,” before adding, “You're giving loser, and no one wants that, and I've done the bums.” Hatz, who competed at both the 2020 and 2024 Paralympic Games and won a bronze medal in the women’s long jump T64 in 2024, drew a sharper line: “I'm not going to compete for a man — he's not a medal.”
Cast mix and early friction
The new lineup stretches beyond the usual villa profile. Reifel is a police officer and the father of a young son; Harvey is the daughter of former NBA player Donnell Harvey; Georgiou is the brother of Charlie from Season 7; and the season also includes Chandler, a nursing assistant, Annis, who said she had spent the past year and a half single, and Moreno, who works as a manager at a bikini store.
That mix gives the series a stronger character spread than a standard casting rollout. Dettloff said, “I'm like getting old. I'm turning 30 soon. The kids are calling me Unc now,” while Vasconcelos said he will “bring the Brazilian fire” and promised, “I speak Spanish, Portuguese and English. If I wanna approach you, I'll be speaking your language, but making out is my love language.”
Two bombshells arrive
Two bombshells joined the original 10 singles on Tuesday night, raising the stakes before the first coupling has even settled. Bosse said the other female contestants should definitely watch out and added, “These men are gonna fall to their knees for me,” while Tatum said, “I don't want a guy who's a side character. I need the main character because I know I am the prize.”
Rhea described himself as a “ladies' man” and joked, “Do I have a wandering eye? I have two, for sure.” For viewers, the practical takeaway is simple: this season is set up to move fast, and the opening cast change, nightly schedule and two late arrivals already give Season 8 a more volatile start than a clean cast reveal would have produced.
