denison baseball opened the Championship Series with a 6-0 shutout of No. 6 Endicott on June 3, 2026, and Cooper Marrs set the tone with 7.0 scoreless innings. The win gave No. 1 Denison a 1-0 lead in the series after its long path through the tournament.

Marrs sets the pace

Marrs earned the win and improved to 7-0 on the season. He allowed no runs over seven innings before Ryan Pagenelis handled the final two innings in Denison’s shutout.

Jeremy Krendel took the loss for Endicott and fell to 4-2. Denison did its damage early and never let the game tighten.

Three runs in the first

Denison scored three times in the opening inning. Erik Sundgren drove in the first run with a hit off the right field wall, Max Fishbein added an RBI single to left field, and Andrew Fazio followed with an RBI ground out.

Kelly Crittenberger pushed the lead to 4-0 with a sacrifice fly in the third inning. A wild pitch in the sixth made it 5-0, and Cade Nowik added another run with a base hit in the seventh.

Denison’s long road to Eastlake

This was Denison’s first berth in the Championship Series after the program dropped the opener in Eastlake and fought through the loser’s bracket. The Big Red arrived with a 44-game win streak, an NCAC championship, and sweeps through the regional and super regional rounds.

Ryan Pagenelis’ 31st appearance out of the bullpen closed the game, and Denison left Eastlake with a shutout and a series lead. For a program making only its first Championship Series appearance, the 6-0 result put it in position to keep the postseason run moving.
