georgia hunter bell is in the women’s 1500m at the Golden Gala Pietro Mennea in Rome on Thursday, June 4, with Keely Hodgkinson entered in the women’s 400m. The Wanda Diamond League meeting arrives in Europe with one of the strongest fields assembled so far this season, and Britain’s medal contenders are right in the middle of it.
Hodgkinson and Hunter Bell in Rome
Hodgkinson’s entry in the 400m puts her against Lieke Klaver, Natalia Bukowiecka, Aaliyah Butler and Amber Anning. Hunter Bell has a different lane to work with in the 1500m, where Birke Haylom, Laura Muir and Revee Walcott-Nolan are also listed.
The pair headline the British presence at the Stadio Olimpico, where Molly Caudery is also entered in the women’s pole vault. That gives Britain three world indoor gold medallists from Torun earlier this year in action on the same program: Hodgkinson, Hunter Bell and Caudery.
Stadio Olimpico field depth
The Rome card runs deeper than the British names at the top. The women’s 200m includes Amy Hunt, Dina Asher-Smith, Melissa Jefferson-Wooden, Julien Alfred and Anavia Battle, while the men’s 100m features Noah Lyles, Marcell Jacobs, Letsile Tebogo and Jeremiah Azu.
There is depth in the men’s 800m as well, with Donavan Brazier and Isaac Nader entered. The men’s shot put brings together Ryan Crouser, Joe Kovacs, Tom Walsh and Leonardo Fabbri, and Kovacs arrives after a world lead of 22.58m in Rabat on Sunday.
British medals in view
Hunter Bell’s Rome run follows a breakthrough 2025 campaign and her world indoor 1500m gold earlier in the year. Hodgkinson is the Olympic 800m champion and the world indoor record-holder, but she is taking on a 400m field that already includes proven quarter-milers rather than a comfort-zone tune-up.
For British fans, the meeting offers a clean read on where three indoor champions stand against elite international fields before the summer championships. Rome asks for more than reputation, and Hodgkinson, Hunter Bell and Caudery all get that test on the same day.
