Starz has ordered the power legacy starz series to series, bringing Joseph Sikora back as Tommy Egan and Michael Rainey Jr. back as Tariq St. Patrick. The move keeps two of the franchise’s most durable names in front of the camera while extending the story in the present timeline.

The franchise has already logged more than 2 billion hours viewed globally across its series, and Starz said the third and final season of Power Book IV: Force delivered record-setting in-season growth of 57%. The Season 3 premiere has attracted 9 million multiplatform viewers to date, giving the company a reason to keep its highest-recognition characters in play.

Gary Lennon Takes Charge

Gary Lennon will showrun and executive produce Power: Legacy, while Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is also an executive producer. Lennon said, “I’m thrilled to reunite with Starz to bring this latest chapter of the ‘Power’ Universe to fans and especially proud to be entrusted with continuing Tommy and Tariq’s story as showrunner on Power: Legacy,” and added, “It’s going to be electrifying to see if these two men can share the city, the game, and the intoxicating drug known as POWER.”

That pairing matters because the series follows the events in the Power Book IV: Force finale, where Tommy and Tariq reunited and saved the day. Tommy returns to New York in the new series and partners with Tariq to take New York by storm, keeping the franchise’s core relationship at the center of the next chapter.

Starz and Lionsgate Television

Power: Legacy is a co-production between Starz and Lionsgate Television, a structure that allows Starz to participate fully in ancillary and downstream revenue opportunities from the series. Jackson said, “Power never dies, and this chapter is our biggest yet,” adding, “Fans have been waiting to see Tariq and Tommy together, and now they’re taking over New York City.”

The business case is straightforward: Starz is not treating this as a one-off revival, but as another franchise asset tied to two leads who first originated their roles in the original Power more than a decade ago. Power Book II: Ghost and Power Book IV: Force already proved the characters can carry separate branches, and the new order keeps that model intact.

June 12 and Beyond

Power Book III: Raising Kanan returns with its fifth and final season on June 12, so the franchise still has active on-screen momentum even as Legacy moves ahead. For viewers who have followed Tommy and Tariq across the universe, the practical takeaway is simple: Starz is betting on continuity, not reinvention, and it is doing so with the two names most closely tied to the brand.
