Abishek Porel fetched Rs 10.40 lakh in the Bengal T20 League men’s auction, with Lux Shyam Kolkata Tigers taking him among the league’s top 10 highest picks. The move came as the league staged its largest-ever player auction ahead of the 2026 season.
Lux Shyam Kolkata Tigers
Lux Shyam Kolkata Tigers secured Porel for Rs 10.40 lakh in a market that pushed spending well beyond one marquee name. The franchise added him as part of an auction that saw 136 players signed in the men’s pool.
The figure placed him inside the top 10 highest picks in the men’s auction, a clear marker of how the league valued established talent before the season begins. Porel’s price also sat below only one other men’s bid: Shahbaz Ahmed at Rs 12.20 lakh.
Bengal T20 League Auction
The scale of the event was broader than the men’s list alone. Franchises signed 128 players in the women’s auction too, and total spending across both auctions crossed over Rs 4.5 crore ahead of the 2026 season.
Mita Paul led the women’s bidding at Rs 3 lakh, while Porel stood out on the men’s side as one of the most expensive domestic names taken. The auction format also required 17-player squads and at least two U19 players per franchise, forcing teams to balance immediate value with squad depth.
Shahbaz Ahmed’s Top Price
Shahbaz Ahmed finished as the most expensive player in the men’s auction at Rs 12.20 lakh, setting the ceiling for the market. Porel’s Rs 10.40 lakh bid placed him just behind that mark and made him one of the central purchases of the day.
For Lux Shyam Kolkata Tigers, the signing is straightforward: they added one of the auction’s top 10 men’s picks at a premium price, and the 2026 season will now carry that valuation from the first squad list onward.
