King Green is looking past jeremy stephens and into a faster lane. The UFC veteran said he wants to keep fighting often, stack bouts while he can, and make a run at the BMF belt before he turns 40.
That push comes with Green scheduled to face Stephens at UFC 328 on Saturday night. He is not talking about rankings or a traditional title path; he is talking about staying busy and getting another fight lined up almost immediately.
Green And Stephens At UFC 328
Green put the fight-week picture plainly: he is ready for whoever the UFC puts in front of him, and Stephens is next. Green said, “To keep it real bro, like, I just put whoever they put on the list. I just fought like a month or so ago, I got a week off, I went with my kids spent a weekend with my kids.”
Then he added, “Then back to work and whoever they put on the list is was whoever they put on the list.” The schedule around him shows the pace he wants to keep. He said he fought “a month or so ago” and used a “week off” to spend time with his kids before returning to work for UFC 328.
Green Wants More Fights Fast
The harder edge in Green’s comments was about time. “I’m trying to roll them out. I’m getting owed, I got limited time to do this, you better get me while I’m here. So I told the UFC hey you got 10 days to go let me heal up and go find me another fight,” he said.
He also drew a clear line around what comes next if another bout does not arrive soon. “Or I’m going to go get lasik surgery on my eyes and it’s going to take a while. I’ve got to hurry up before I turn 40,” Green said. That leaves little room for a long pause between appearances, especially for a fighter trying to squeeze in as many bouts as possible before that birthday arrives.
The BMF Belt And Nate Diaz
Green said titles have not been the center of his career, but the BMF belt changed that. “I never really had my eyes on any titles, but man that BMF belt has been looking real good lately,” he said.
He tied that goal to Nate Diaz, whom he called his “big bro,” and framed the belt as something he would want to take and return. “My big bro is Nate Diaz. He created the belt. It’d be an ultimate honor if I could fight for the BMF belt, grab that sh*t, and be like ‘hey Nate. This is yours. This belong to you.’ Give it back to him,” Green said.
For now, the immediate task is Stephens at UFC 328 on Saturday night. The bigger move is what Green is asking for after that: another quick turnaround, and a possible BMF shot before the calendar catches him at 40.
