LE SSERAFIM, Illit and Katseye will release iconic by mistake on June 12 at 1 p.m. The joint digital single gives three HYBE-linked girl groups a shared rollout, with the first live performance scheduled a day earlier on Mnet’s M Countdown.

June 8 rollout

On June 8, HYBE’s subsidiaries Source Music, BeliefLab and HYBE-Gepfen Record announced the project on Weverse and set the release time at 1 p.m. A video released the same day leaned into the song’s title with feathers across the screen, a trembling effect and the lyric, “I'm iconic by mistake.”

The release is not coming out of nowhere. The three groups have already crossed paths through challenge videos and other content, which makes this a structured joint push rather than a one-off pairing.

Chart numbers behind the launch

LE SSERAFIM enters the collaboration with a second full-length album, PUREFLOW pt.1, that reached No. 10 on the U.S. Billboard 200. Five of its albums, excluding single albums, have now entered the top 10 of that chart in a row.

ILLIT brings a separate Billboard marker: its fourth mini album, MAMIHLAPINATAPAI, ranked No. 26 on the Billboard 200, while its debut track “Magnetic” was the fastest among K-pop debut songs to enter both Billboard’s Hot 100 and the UK Official Singles Top 100. Katseye arrives with its own chart and awards record, placing “Gnarly” and “Gabriela” on the Billboard Hot 100 and winning three categories, including “New Artist of the Year,” at the American Music Awards in May.

M Countdown on June 11

The first performance lands on June 11, when all three groups are scheduled to appear on Mnet’s M Countdown and perform the song for the first time. Their agencies say they plan to present a variety of content and performances to celebrate the summer season, turning the release into a staged campaign rather than a single drop.

For readers tracking the groups as business assets as much as pop acts, the key move is the sequencing: a teaser, a televised debut and then the release at 1 p.m. on June 12. That leaves the live performance as the first real read on how this three-group collaboration plays before the single reaches listeners.
