Manitoba is asking residents to vote on a new provincial parks licence plate design until July 31, and Environment and Climate Change Minister Mike Moyes says the plates would give people a way to show support for the province’s parks. The winning design will be available for purchase in 2027, with some money from each plate sold directed to the Manitoba Provincial Park Endowment Fund.

Mike Moyes on the vote

Moyes said, “Manitoba is home to 93 incredible provincial parks, and these new provincial park licence plates will give Manitobans a way to show their support for these very special places”. He added, “I want to encourage everyone who loves our parks here in Manitoba to take a look at the designs and vote for your favourite.”

The vote is being run by the Government of Manitoba on its website. For Manitobans who buy one later, the plate would do more than identify a vehicle. It would also send part of the sale toward the Manitoba Provincial Park Endowment Fund, tying a consumer choice to park funding.

Nature Conservancy of Canada

The application for the new plates was brought forward by the Nature Conservancy of Canada. That puts the organization at the start of a process that now depends on public input, with the final design left to the vote and the purchase date pushed to 2027.

For readers deciding whether to take part, the only action required now is simple: choose a design before July 31. The later purchase date means the vote is about more than preference; it helps decide which plate will carry the parks message onto Manitoba roads in 2027.
