Rock the south moved from its June dates to Oct. 1-4 after organizers and the City of Decatur said unprecedented rainfall made the festival site unusable. The change turns a weather-driven postponement into a four-day run, with most of the scheduled artists still on the bill.
On Tuesday, organizers said the amount of rain at the event site left them no choice. Tickets and camping packages bought for the original festival dates will still be honored, and ticket holders who cannot make the rescheduled event will get an email next week with information.
Decatur and the new October run
The revised schedule gives Rock the South four days instead of the originally planned format. Zach Top is set for Thursday, Oct. 1, Jason Aldean will headline Friday, Oct. 2, Jessie Murph has been added as a Saturday, Oct. 3 headliner at no additional cost, and Riley Green is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 4.
That lineup shift means the festival is not starting from scratch. Most scheduled artists will be able to perform on the new dates, and an updated daily lineup is expected in the coming weeks.
What ticket holders should do
Anyone already holding tickets or camping packages for the June dates does not need to re-buy admission for the October event. Those purchases remain valid for Oct. 1-4, which makes the reschedule more than a date change; it preserves access for buyers who already committed money and travel plans to the original run.
The immediate next step is simple: watch for the email next week if the October dates do not work. For everyone else, the practical question is whether the new four-day schedule still fits their plans, especially with Jessie Murph added as a headliner without extra cost.
