Harper Spurs have leaned on Dylan Harper to reach this point, and the rookie guard is again at the center of Game 7. San Antonio is one win from the NBA Finals after taking a 3-1 series lead into its decisive matchup with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Harper’s biggest nights have come in two of San Antonio’s three wins. He opened the Western Conference Finals with 24 points, 11 rebounds, seven steals and six assists in a seven-point win in double overtime, then followed with 18 points on 67% shooting in Game 6.

Harper’s Game 1 spike

Game 1 set the tone for the series. With De'Aaron Fox out, Harper carried a heavy load and produced across the board, turning his first game of the round into the kind of line that can change how a defense handles a rookie.

That output also matched the production San Antonio expected when it drafted him second overall. During the regular season, he averaged 11.8 points per game on 51% shooting, plus 3.9 assists and 3.4 rebounds per game.

Thunder responses on Harper

Oklahoma City has not found a clean answer for his strength at the rim. Jared McCain, Cason Wallace, Alex Caruso and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander have not been able to completely keep him out of the paint, and Luguentz Dort has not added enough offense to offset the pressure Harper has created.

Harper’s middle stretch in the series was quieter, but his Game 6 line pushed him back into the spotlight. He scored 18 points on 67% shooting as the Spurs won in blowout fashion, giving San Antonio another route to victory beyond the opening-game burst.

San Antonio’s Game 7 edge

That leaves the Spurs with a clear formula: if Harper produces again, they have a direct path to the NBA Finals. If he does not, the margin disappears fast against a Thunder team that has already forced San Antonio to answer the same problem more than once.

Harper has already supplied two of the Spurs’ three wins in the series, and that is why Game 7 points back to him. A rookie who averaged 11.8 points in the regular season now has to match the biggest stage in the round.
