tufts lacrosse opens on Saturday, May 16, with the Boston Guard facing the New York Charging in the first-ever WLL regular season game at Centreville Bank Stadium in Pawtucket, R.I. The Women’s Lacrosse League begins its inaugural season with four teams and a 10-versus-10 format that first appeared at the 2025 WLL All-Star Game.
Centreville Bank Stadium debut
The Boston Guard and the New York Charging will take the field on Saturday night in the league’s first regular season game, a cleaner opening marker than the two Championship Series that came before it. The Charging won the 2026 Championship Series, while Boston won the first-ever Championship Series in 2025.
That matchup puts the league’s newest schedule in motion at a neutral-market venue in Rhode Island before each team shifts into its own home market. Rhode Island is one of the neutral sites listed for WLL games, along with Chicago and Fairfield, Conn.
Mckenna Davis joins New York
Mckenna Davis, Notre Dame’s assistant coach, is on the New York roster for the inaugural season. Former Notre Dame women’s lacrosse players are spread across three of the four teams, with Boston Guard, Maryland Charm and California Palms all carrying Irish alumni.
The Boston roster that won the 2025 Championship Series included Aldave, Ahern, Choma, Dorney and Wolak, and that same program now opens against New York in the league’s first regular season game. That gives the opener a direct line back to the championship race that shaped the league before its first full season even began.
Maryland Charm, California Palms
The rest of the opening slate is already set behind the headline game. Maryland Charm and California Palms will start their season on Friday, May 29, at the Ridley Athletic Complex in Baltimore, Md.
The league posted the schedule on February 4, 2026, writing, “The 2026 Inaugural Season Schedule is here! ?” For Notre Dame’s alumni and staff, the first game arrives with a built-in spotlight: one league debut, four teams, and three rosters with Irish ties already in the mix.
