Alaska Airlines launched daily nonstop service from Seattle to London Heathrow on the day of the article, adding a year-round transatlantic route as alaska airline expands its European network. The carrier also said its new Seattle-Tacoma International Airport lounge will open in late 2027.
Seattle Heathrow Terminal 3
The Seattle-London service operates out of London Heathrow’s Terminal 3 and gives U.S.-based guests access to London, plus connections to additional destinations across Europe and beyond on oneworld member and partner airlines. For UK travelers, the route opens access to the Pacific Northwest and Alaska Airlines’ West Coast network, including the Hawaiian Islands.
Alaska’s Chief Commercial Officer said the carrier is focusing on delivering a meaningful experience that feels distinctly Alaska. “As we connect the West Coast to Europe in new ways, our focus is on delivering a meaningful experience that feels distinctly Alaska – warm, thoughtful and elevated at every touchpoint. For our guests in the U.S., we’re opening more convenient access to Europe with the airline they know and love, and for our guests in Europe and beyond, we’re bringing our signature West Coast hospitality to every step of the journey, reflecting the comfort and care we’re known for.”
Alaska lounge late 2027
The new lounge will be among the largest in the country and will use a two-level design. Alaska said the project is part of a multimillion-dollar investment across its expanding lounge portfolio, tying the Sea-Tac buildout to the airline’s wider international growth.
The Seattle route is Alaska Airlines’ second European destination introduced in 2026. Last month, the airline launched its first-ever transatlantic route to Rome, and on May 28 it will begin nonstop service to Reykjavík, Iceland as its third European destination.
The London flight also adds cargo capacity intended to increase opportunities to move goods across Alaska’s network. Alaska said the 787’s capacity and Alaska Air Cargo’s customer service will help strengthen the connection between North America and the UK. The carrier said Alaska Lounge+ members can access select partner lounges worldwide, including the Admirals Club at London Heathrow, when traveling internationally, while guests in its international business class Suites and oneworld Sapphire and Emerald members can access partner lounges regardless of cabin.
London Heathrow Airport’s Chief Customer Officer said the new route adds to the airport’s transatlantic network. “Every new route launched from Heathrow gives passengers and businesses more choice and stronger connections to the world. Alaska Airlines’ new service to Seattle further strengthens our transatlantic network, opening up opportunities for travel and trade between the UK and the U.S. West Coast. Working closely with airline partners like Alaska is how we deliver the connectivity passengers and businesses want – and keep the UK competitive globally.”
