aaa wrestling used its May 23, 2026 live show in Mexico City to set up a new general manager announcement, with Marisela Peña scheduled to make the call during the episode. The move puts the promotion’s top on-screen power position in play on a night that also carried a Cruiserweight Championship challenge and other advertised matches.

Marisela Peña In Mexico City

Peña was set to reveal the new general manager during the Saturday night broadcast that started at 10 pm ET. Dorian Roldan had planted the idea in her mind as part of a power grab, and Peña had already interviewed candidates for the job, including Chessman, Texano Jr., and Cibernetico.

That makes the announcement more than a routine personnel reveal. The choice goes straight to who controls AAA’s public direction and the decision-making that plays out on television, and the promotion framed it on a live episode from Mexico City rather than holding it for a separate special.

Fenix Challenges Laredo Kid

Fenix also challenged Laredo Kid for the AAA World Cruiserweight Championship on the same show. The challenge carried extra weight because Fenix had previously held the title before vacating it in 2023.

Laredo Kid had recently accused Fenix of being jealous of Penta’s success, and the two had already met in a non-title bout before the title match was announced. Fenix won that earlier match, giving the championship bout a sharper edge heading into the May 23 broadcast.

AAA’s Go-Home Card

The rest of the card kept the show tied to the larger run-up to Noche de los Grandes. Bravo and Rayo were scheduled to face the Creed Brothers in tag team action, while El Grande Americano was lined up against Original Americano in a mask versus mask match at Noche de los Grandes.

WWE streamed the show in English for most of the world, while AAA offered the program in Spanish through the live section of its YouTube channel. With the general manager reveal, the cruiserweight title bout, and the tag match all on one live episode, AAA used the Mexico City show to push both its storyline control room and its in-ring program forward at the same time.
