guglielmo vicario came back into the picture for Tottenham with a full-length save in added time at Wolves, and Antonin Kinsky said the 1-0 win had to be carried forward. The goalkeeper described Spurs as a team that has put itself in a position it does not want to be in, after a result that brought three vital points.

Kinsky at Hotspur Way

Kinsky spoke at Hotspur Way on Friday and said the win was the outcome Tottenham had been chasing. "For us, it was exactly what we went for, not just in this game, but throughout the whole games. Eventually, last week, we finally made it. So, of course, it's a nice feeling. It's a game that now we just have to carry on."

His late stop against Joao Gomes mattered because it preserved the three points after Tottenham had already done the hard work for most of the match. Kinsky launched to his left to keep out Gomes’ free-kick, a save made in added time that kept Wolves from taking anything from the game.

Three games in goal

The return to the team has also changed Kinsky’s own mood. He said, "Yeah, very nice moment, especially with the spell of games before which I didn't play at all. Now, I finally got back to goal in three consecutive games. Of course, the feeling now for me is completely different. I'm just happy I could show it and prove that I feel well and that I'm prepared."

That run matters because it followed a spell in which he did not play at all, and it came after the early substitution in Tottenham’s UEFA Champions League Round of 16 first leg at Atletico Madrid on 10 March. Kinsky said the mistake in that knock-out stage game had a big influence on him, but he added that the process after every mistake is the same and that the stage made this one different.

Atletico Madrid lesson

Kinsky tied his recovery to the work he puts in every day. "Yeah, it's one of those things. I think for me to then come back to the goal, even if something like this happens, and to have the confidence, for me it comes from the work that I put in." He said that on days when he does not play, he still does warm-up, kicking and gym work.

Tottenham now have the result they wanted at Wolves, but Kinsky put the pressure on the group plainly: "Yeah, I think everyone is aware how important this moment is. Not just for us, it's for the club, it's for everyone. Of course, we got ourselves into this position. We definitely don't want to be in this (position). Now we are here and we need to get ourselves out of it. I think you understand what I mean by this. Don't look at it, just put in the effort and take the three points."
